| Reputedly the oldest chronological record in history, the ancient Chinese Lunar Calendar dates back before 2,600BC. Based on the appearance of the new moon, it associates a different animal with each year in the 12-year lunar cycle. |

The first four coins are accompanied by their own numbered Certificates of Authenticity and are housed in a prestigious presentation case allowing spaces for the forthcoming annual releases. The next eight coins will be released individually over the next eight years. They will be available in a capsule and delivered with their own Certificate of Authenticity. |

The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark is incorporated into each of the reverse designs. The Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the year-date and the monetary denomination are shown on the obverse of each coin. |

| The coin’s coloured reverse depicts a mouse crouching on a bed of stones with chilli pepper foliage in the background. The inscription ‘Year of the Mouse’ and the Chinese character for ‘mouse’ are incorporated in the design. |
