Australia Shanghai World Expo - Panda & Koala 1 oz Silver Coin 2010

Symbolising Australia’s friendship and business ties with the host country, China, the coin’s reverse portrays a koala and a panda on a coloured background depicting a forest.  The design includes the Australian pavilion’s colourful logo - a representation of the Australian continent in three wavy lines symbolising the blue sea and sky, red centre and golden beaches.

Issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965, the coin’s obverse depicts the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the 2010 year-date.

Limited to a mintage of 30,000, this Shanghai World Expo 2010 silver coin is subject to an exclusive distribution agreement in China.   Under a special arrangement, however, 1,000 coins can be issued by The Perth Mint for sale worldwide.
